CONTROVERSIAL student night Carnage has returned to the bars and streets of Stoke-on-Trent.
But the pub crawl event again drew criticisms from local residents who were turned away from bars reserved for the Carnage event.

Great report from Kellie.
What do you think, should this night take place in our city centre? Are the university right to oppose it? Did you ever do anything like this when you were a student? (if you can remember back that far!) Is it the same thing as blowing your 1st weeks wages?
Over to you………

I thought part of the vision for the future of this great city of ours was an attempt to encourage those that could be part of a bright to remain here in the long term?. Does an objection to this type of event not sew the seed with a great many talented and bright young things that perhaps Stoke is not a long term option for them? We’re all young and carefree at some point, why not be allowed to enjoy that…… would you see such an objection some of our more forward thinking cities?
Quentin – I think no matter what happens in Stoke, Students at the university treat the local like we’re all inbred.
I don’t think letting you have your bash will make a difference.
However, I think you should have your fun, hopefully mallow the mood up town a little, as it has got quite oppressive.
Either that or I’m just getting old (33)
Hey web monkey….. I wish I were still a student, and a young one at that
I’m a 36 yr old degree educated citizen of this great city who has returned after years of working across the UK and indeed the world, and have no connection with this event.
It saddens me to return to a city that has effectively become a demolition site.
Coupled with that I encounter large sections of the community that do not seem to share the vision required to drag this city out of the economic doldrums.
I know I’m going off topic slightly, but this type of action does not help.
I am a Staffs Student and I hate Carnage! I totally support the increasing number of universities and councils who have banned carnage events. If ever a more useless waste of time and space were invented this is it. It’s expensive, dangerous and unnecessary. (before I get accused of being an old fogey or something I’m only 23 and I do enjoy a drink on a night out and have been known to get drunk but events like this are just asking for trouble)
