Stoke-on-Trent City Council has today honoured two of our city’s sporting greats.
15 time world champion Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor and Sir Stanley Matthews become the first city sporting icons to be inducted into the Stoke-on-Trent Sporting Hall of Fame.
Mrs Jean Gough was there to accept the award in memory of her father, the man described as ‘the wizard of the dribble’, Sir Stanley Matthews.
PDC World Champion was there with his wife Yvonne and his mum.
Both spoke of the honour of receiving the award and how proud they are to be from our City of Stoke-on-Trent.
Watch the video of them entering the civic reception held in their honour today.
Listen to the two audio interviews, the first is with Mrs Jean Gough, daughter of Sir Stan.
The second is with the king of darts Phil Taylor. Both tell how much the city means to them.
