Sir Stanley Matthews was named Stoke-on-Trent’s Citizen of the Century on Wednesday night during the celebratory dinner held at the Kings Hall.
Jean Gough, daughter of the former Stoke City and England footballer, accepted the centenary bowl and gave an emotional speech recalling her father’s life and achievements.
The event was attended by over 300 guests including Citizen of the Century nominees and representatives, city councillors, and other distinguished visitors.
