The Olympic Torch Relay has left Stoke-on-Trent this morning and headed off to Crewe and then on to Bolton for its next overnight stop.
Stoke City Manager Tony Pulis got todays relay started at the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery and ran the first part of the relay.
Tony said
I am extremely honoured to be given the privilege of representing Stoke-on-Trent and to be among those offered this most prestigious of opportunities. This is an historic event for the whole of Britain and it is an immensely proud feeling to be able to say that you are carrying the Olympic torch as part of that build-up.
The torch then passed the iconic Sir Stanley Matthews statue in Hanley before heading off towards Cobridge & Burslem and leaving the city.

I thought the council did a good job bringing the torch to Stoke, and laying on a bit of respite from the economic gloom.
