Campaigning postman Les Porch has been selected as the Liberal Democrat candidate in the Springfields and Trent Vale by-election.

Les Porch has been a prime mover in the petition campaign by Riverside residents demanding a rethink over Stoke City FC’s plans to expand their training academy.

Great news for the new executives that John van de Laarschot is hoping to entice to Stoke-on-Trent with the prospect of self bulild executive homes in the city, Bromptondock the automated cycle hire scheme has arrived just in time!

A Bromptondock automated bike hire scheme, featuring the Brompton folding bicycle, has been installed at Stoke-on-Trent railway station, only the second of the schemes to be launched this year in partnership with Virgin Trains, the first being set up at Manchester Piccadilly station in March. Stoke-on-Trent Conservatives have today confirmed that their candidate in the forthcoming Springfields and Trent Vale byelection will be local father of 3 and former soldier Harold Gregory.

Harold, who lives in the ward, now works for Network Rail however spent many years in the Army, stationed all around the world. In his spare time, he volunteers as an instructor with local Army cadets, using his skills to help young people. Continue reading

City Council announce plan to become self-sufficient in low carbon energy

As reported on Pits n Pots 2 weeks ago, Stoke-on-Trent a city self sufficient in low carbon energy?, Stoke-on-Trent City Council yesterday announced that they are one of just six authorities nationwide to make it to the second stage of the ‘Creative Councils’ programme, securing £150,000. The funding will help the council create a trail-blazing local authority power company which will help the city become self-sufficient in low carbon energy – a first under the 2011 Localism Act.
