Excuse me. Are you the Judean People’s Front?

After watching this mornings twitter discussion about this post, 500 words from Matthew Wright Socialist Party candidate for Springfields and Trent Vale,  Eye Spy was reminded of this from Monty Python,

Socialist Party, TUSC… Are they just not bits of the same thing I ask myself, apparently not.

Have Your Say

  1. Very mature response.
TUSC is made up of a number of organisations. The Socialist Party is one of them. Matt is standing as the TUSC candidate in the Springfields and Trent Vale byelection – not at the Socialist Party candidate.
I’m not sure why you’ve gotten so het up about a simple request to report the facts!

  2. The Militant tendency is a banned organisation within the Labour Party.
    Hence the name change.
ps. I got more votes in my one ward than they did across the entire City last time around.
The Jeudean people’s front, or the people’s front of Jeudea?

  3. Yes Gary the Miltant Tendancy is a banned organisation in the Labour Party very much like yourself. But there is a crucial difference. We were banned for fighting for Socialist policies as the Labour Party transformed itself into a Tory mark two party.

Eye Spy; Monty Python touch very good but would prefer to watch the whole film.

Socialist Party and TUSC the same thing though? I think the give away is in the word ‘coalition’. The Socialist Party is one component part of the Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition (TUSC). See it’s not that difficult to grasp once you get the hang of it. You can check out TUSC here http://www.tusc.org.uk and you can check out the Socialist Party here http://www.socialistparty.org.uk and even Stoke Branch of the Socialist Party here http://www.stokesocialistparty.org.uk

The Socialist Party is an enthusiastic component part of TUSC because both organisations, unlike every other candidate in the Springfield & Trent Vale by-election, are opposed to all cuts not just in words but in action. You can check out TUSC candidate Matt Wright’s record here http://www.stokesocialistparty.org.uk/?p=1988

Our New Labour Council has done the Con Dem government’s dirty work by slashing jobs and services. The frightening thing is that, according to the government itself, only 15% of their planned cuts have been carried out.

The Socialist Party and TUSC are putting forward a programme which we think could stop these cuts. You and many others may disagree. You might think this programme is a pile of shite. We have no problem with that. Neither do we have a problem with humour being used alongside serious analysis and comment. But used instead of dealing with serious issues? Come on man get a grip!

  4. Andy, surely you heard me speak to Great Britain when I announced that I had resigned from the Labour Party because they had rigged an election?
Because a senior member of the NEC (a lying cheat) heard that broadcast, he sent me a letter three days later saying I was a banned member for 5 years.
A waste of paper 1p, a waste of a stamp 40p a waste of ink 000001p and a complete waste of time and effort.
I will not belong to a political party of any colour that rigs elections and ignores a rule book to win a simple argument that they could not win.
Militant on the other hand, was considered ‘an organisation within an organisation’.
Hence the unfortunate reasoning by yourselves that laws must be broken to win an argument.
    Wrong, wrong wrong Andy.
I support your principle on services 100% but the tactic is beneath me.
btw. I’d join the Judean people’s front, but never the people’s front of Judea.
    I have principle.

  5. Gary, as a proud and committed supporter of Militant Tendancy I also resigned from the Labour Party

Yes Militant was an ‘organisation within an organisation’ just like the Labour Representation Committee still is today. In fact the Labour Party was set up as a federation of many organisations including the marxist Social Democratic Federation. The difference with Militant is that we were begining to threaten the continued right wing dominance of the Party so we had to go by any means necessary.

By the way – a) which laws did we break to win what argument? b) what ‘tactic is beneath’ you?

    • No Andy, that is not a true historical account.
      I was there.
Militant were seen as ‘Labour’ and were forwarded by all right wing nuts outside of the Party as being representative of Labour.
Sure, the cause was worth fighting for, but the tactics were not middle of the road politics of the many.
We mainly sympathised and many in Stoke gave closet support but that was as far as the many would go.
You can’t keep perpetually blaming the many for the failings of right wing politicians either within Labour or the Conservatives.
I never gave my support to remove those identified as being Militant members and I was never asked anyway.
The so-called ‘policy review’ caught Labour members by surprise, but total dejection lost the will to live.
Labour had its fall guy and Labour built on it.
Once it got strong at the expense of a corrupt and weakening Tory party, the right wing moved in singing all the glories and ordering a new sofa for murdoch.

  6. I’m too busy reading the Labour candidate’s (Mark Meredith’s) 500 words of apologyto write 500 words of punishing truth.
Besides, I haven’t got a brand new ipad to write them.
Do you find it remotely funnny, that I have a friend called, Bigus Dicus?
When I get hold of Labour, I will throw them to the floor….very roughly.

  7. Gary,
when you have finished reading Meredith’s ‘apology’ can you answer the questions I asked you previously

    a) which laws did we break to win what argument? b) what ‘tactic is beneath’ you?

  8. Your propaganda is full of refusals and is coded for what Militants have already proven with such talk in Liverpool.

  9. Oh, and by the way, your whole campaign falls apart unless of course, David Cameron and the British Empire crusshes to the demands of matt Wright and Trent Vale.
    Be reasonable Andy.

  10. Gary, my questions to you, which are based on your earlier accusations are quite clear. Are you going to answer them directly? – or carry on adding more unspecific, meaningless generalisation such as your last but one post,

“Your propaganda is full of refusals and is coded for what Militants have already proven with such talk in Liverpool”. That one is priceless.

What the hell is that supposed to mean?

    For you and everyone else’s benefit I repeat here my previous questions;

    a) which laws did we break to win what argument? b) what ‘tactic is beneath’ you?

  11. Andy, now come on.
Are you suggesting that you don’t have a Masters degree in Liverpool and Hatton?
Your five point plan is full of refusals and demands and mass this and that.
Let’s just, for arguments sake, suggest that the Government doesn’t cave in to your threats.
    Then what?
What is your next strategic plan for Matt Wright, the, Socialist party and the City?
Get real Andy. The target is this Labour Council, not the Government.
