Sporting Hall of Fame Inducts Latest Members

The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress (Councillor Denver Tolley and Mrs Lynne Tolley) will induct the latest members of the City of Stoke-on-Trent’s Sporting Hall of Fame at a special Civic Reception on Wednesday 2nd March 2011 at 11.15 a.m.

The Hall of Fame has been established to celebrate the sporting achievements of people whose names are synonymous with sport both nationally and internationally. It provides the City with the opportunity to reflect on the contribution of the sportsmen and sportswomen who have contributed to the legacy of sport and to act as an inspiration to the next generation of sporting stars.

It is with great pleasure that in 2011 the City of Stoke-on-Trent would like to formally recognise the outstanding sporting achievements of Gordon Banks OBE and Roy Sproson.

To mark this occasion an event is being held in the Lord Mayor’s Parlour in the Civic Centre. Representatives of Roy Sproson’s family and Gordon Banks and his family will be present to receive the City’s award.
